How to Prepare

Step 1 — Make the Batter

Add 140 ml water to the 200 g premix and mix well to form a smooth batter.

Step 2 — Rest

Keep the batter aside for 5 minutes.

Step 3 — Prepare for Steaming

Grease a khaman plate or steaming tray with oil and spread the batter evenly.

Step 4 — Steam

Steam for approximately 20 minutes.

Allow the khaman to cool for around 5 minutes after steaming.

Step 5 — Prepare the Tadka

Heat 30 ml oil and add mustard seeds and green chilli.

Then add 120 ml water and bring it to a boil.

Step 6 — Add Tadka

Pour the prepared tempering water evenly over the steamed khaman.

Step 7 — Serve

Cut into pieces and serve with your favourite Jain-friendly chutney or accompaniment.


Tithi-Friendly Preparation

The premix itself is suitable for Jain Tithi and Tapasya.

For strict Tithi/Tapasya preparation, simply omit ingredients that are not permitted according to your personal Jain observance, such as green chilli or other optional garnishes.

This allows you to enjoy the khaman while adapting the final preparation to your specific niyam.
