Dal Makhani (Tithi)

This is Tithi special Dal Makhani recipe, which does not contain any non -permissible ingredients during Tithi or Paryushan.

 

Ingredients

1/4 cup rajama

3/4 cup urad (whole black beans)

3 table spoon ghee

1 tea spoon cumin seeds

2 cloves

1 small cinnamon stick

1 cardamom

pinch of asaphoetida

1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder

2 tea spoon red chilii powder

1 tea spoon cumin coriander powder

1/4 tea spoon dry ginger powder

1 table spoon garam masala powder

1/4 cup fresh cream

Dry coriander leaves (to garnish)

salt to taste

Method:

Clean wash and soak the urad and rajama for 8 hours.

After that drain and keep aside.

Pressure cook both dal and rajma (combined) with salt and 2 cups of water till 5 whistles. This should be over cooked than regular dal.

whisk the dal till it is almost mashed.

Heat ghee in a pan.add cumin seeds ,as soon as the cumin seeds crackle add cinnamon stick ,cloves asaphoetida (hing)

Add dry ginger powder, turmeric powder chilli powder and garam masala powder.

Add the dal and rajma. add salt as required. add 3/4 cup water. simmer for 15 minutes.switch off the flame. add fresh cream and mix well.

Garnish it with dry coriander leaves and cream. serve hot with rice paratha or roti.
